Charlie the Champion

Little Miss Charlie Grace got to play in her very first soccer tournament over Thanksgiving break.  Her fall coach, Ron Weber, handpicked a group of girls to take to a tournament.  Charlie was the youngest player and played so well.  We are extremely proud of her for playing with the big girls.  She has spent a whole year being dragged around to Ryan's tournaments and now she finally had her own.  She likes to be like big sister Ry-Ry.  One thing is not like her sister though... out of all the medals that Ryan has accumulated this past year, she doesn't have a "champion" medal and little Miss Charlie DOES!!  Her team won the tournament and she could not have been more proud.

Here are the girls celebrating their big win!

Ryan and her friend taught the younger girls a great cheer!
(Ryan is in the red and blue stripes... she just couldn't stay away)

The Medal Ceremony.  Charlie earning her very first medal!

 Nice job team!
(Mommy got to be one of the assistant coaches.  Charlie liked that :-)

 Two peas in a pod!

Her medal hanger is no longer empty!
"I'm catchin' up to you Ryan!  Watch out!"

Look how proud.

Love you Char Bear!  Congratulations!

Thanksgiving at the Kudrons

I was the worst photographer ever at Thanksgiving this year!  Mike and Nancy hosted a wonderful day.  Everything was beautifully decorated and tasted yummy!  This is the only picture I took!  At least I got one picture of the cousins showing how they are all growing!

Katie and Ryan are 8 1/2.  Charlie is 7.  Cameron is 5.
What a cute group of kiddos!
They had a blast playing together like always.  They are all so sweet to each other.  Never any drama.  Love it.

I am thankful for my family.
Happy Holidays!

Our Busy Fall...

I know, I know... I haven't posted in a very long time.  Well, I have a good reason... Our fall has been filled with 4 sports teams.  Whooo... 2 out of the 4 teams have now come to an end with new experiences on the horizon.

We ended up with 3 undefeated soccer teams and one super hero football player!

First Team:  The Smashing Pumpkins
Super Star Involved:  Charlie
Team Summary:  Charlie was one of the younger players on this awesome team.  Mommy got to be the assistant coach but assigned Charlie to play for our good family friend, Ron Weber.   Coach Ron worked with Charlie all season on how to be aggressive with the older players.  After all, Charlie WAS the tallest one on the team.  Despite a few goals this season while playing offense, she is turning out to be a great little defender!  She played on a Turkey Shoot Tournament team with Coach Ron (post to follow) and was the only first grader on a team of second and third graders.

Second Team:  White Lightning
Super Star Involved:  Ryan
Team Summary:  Ryan played AYSO in Long Beach this season (different from our local AYSO league) in order to play with some friends from her club team.  This U10 AYSO team won first place in their division and will be continuing to play in the California Regional games, and then hopefully sectionals, and maybe even the state championship if they continue to do well.  Ryan also made the all-star team that has their first meeting tonight.  Good job Ryan!!

 Third Team:  Beach Futbol Club
Super Star Involved:  Ryan
Team Summary:  Ryan's first year as a club soccer player has been very successful.  Her team went undefeated in the regular season.  This was a brand new team so this is an amazing feat for these U9 girls!  She will continue to play for Beach Futbol Club.  She has found her spot on the team as the right halfback/right wing.  She has developed some amazing footwork and has a beatiful right cross. She had 4 goals and 3 assists in the regular season.

 Fourth Team:  Nebraska Cornhuskers
Super Star Involved: Charlie
Team Summary:  Charlie first (and probably only) experience playing Friday Night Lights Football was so much fun.  She was the only girl on her team and worked as hard as all the boys.  Many of the boys were naturally more skilled than Charlie started but she caught up with the game in a hurry.  She got to play the "center" position often and be in charge of hiking the ball to the quarter back.  Charlie had three remarkable plays this season.  The first one happened in the first play of the very first game... she pulled the first flag of the season!  What a defender!  The second great play happened in their first and only playoff game... Charlie ran for a first down!  Woohoo!  The third is the most remarkable of all...  Charlie saved her team from having to forfeit their playoff game!  Because of the rain, the playoffs were postponed to the same night as Charlie was to be part of the Seal Beach parade with her Daisy troop!  since the events overlapped, we let Charlie choose what she wanted to do.  To no surprise, our little actress chose to be in the Christmas Parade.   We called the coach to see if it was okay for her to miss her game.  He understood totally.  We told him that if he needed her to let us know.  As Charlie was getting ready for the parade, the coach called.  He told us that another little boy had decided not to show and if Charlie couldn't come, the Nebraska Cornhuskers would have to forfeit their seat in the playoffs.  Even though there were a lot of tears, Charlie understood that that it was the right thing to do to go to her football game.  She held her chin up high, wiped her tears, and went to her game to play hard for her team.  The team was so grateful.  She was a hero!!  So proud of you Charlie!!  Luckily (or unluckily), the team lost their first playoff game and they were out of the playoffs.  Steve jetted down to the parade, changed Charlie in the car, and I ran over to get her.  She made the parade after all!!

A fall full of sports has come to an end... on to our winter/spring teams!!
Woo-hoo... we love our sport family!
