Open House #2

So, by now you all realize that the girls attend two different pre-schools during the week. You saw the pictures from the Open House at the other pre-school. Now we have had Open House at the T/Th pre-school. As you look at the projects, you will notice the complete polar opposite philosophies of the schools. The M/W/F school is very "product driven." Crafts always come home looking just as they should probably with lots of teacher support. This school, on the other hand, believes in a very organic, child-centered approach. The students are free to create as they see fit without many boundaries. I love that they have had both. I see huge positives in both schools they attended this year. Also, here in the T/Th pre-school, it is a multi-age philosophy so Ryan and Charlie have been in the same class all year. They have loved that since it will never happen again!

Here is Charlie's drawing. She says that she drew a picture of her (big head in middle of page) with a hot dog with fuzzy hair. And then she signed her name. Can you read it? The "a" and "r" are flipped out of order but all the letters are there. Good job Chuckles!

The kids each drew a life size picture of themselves sitting in the chairs in the room. The paper doll of each student had a project in front of them representing"what they are good at." Charlie's project represents that she is good at feeding the fish. (P.S. There are no fish at home or at school. Not quite sure when she is feeding the fish but I'm sure glad she's good at it!)

Here is Charlie feeding the fish!

Here is Ryan's drawing of her planting flowers. This is what she said she was good at. Her project was a flower pot.

Here is Paper Doll Ryan holding her flower pot.

The girls showed us one of their favorite play stations in the classroom. This is the instrument room. There are rock star dress up clothes and a microphone to sing. Soooo Hannah Montana you know! This particular area changes throughout the year. Back in early Spring, I remember it being a bug room where the kids would dress up like bugs and buzzzz around.

Good job on making your paper dolls. The fish and the flower pot look very real. Keep up the good work. Love, Nona
