Snow Day

Friday was snow day at Teddy Bear School. All the kids really look forward to this exciting day when they get to play in a pile of snow dropped by a trunk on the back field of the school grounds. The parents and teachers see the day quite another way... very wet clothes, lots of little ones that need to be changed, and ill-fitting and make-shift snow gear that doesn't quite stay in place. This is my 3rd year with the Snow Day experience with Ryan but it was Charlie's first so I made sure that I was on hand to capture her delight!

Charlie hugging her friends in class before heading out to the field.

Charlie in her "snow boots" (aka rain boots) with friend Evelyn.

The photographer was making an attempt at a class picture. Right at this moment, Charlie's boots got stuck in the snow and she stepped out of both of them right into the cold snow in her stocking feet. The tears started right then. Glad I was there to help.

Back to happy.

Sharing the snow with a friend.

"Look what I can do."

Bad mommy missed Ryan in the snow. The two classes' times in the snow were separated by 2 1/2 hours and I tried to time it perfectly to be back to the school in time to see Ryan but missed her by seconds. I did however get there in time to change her out of her drenched jeans into dry clothes and help the teachers out with many others.

To make it up to Ryan for missing her time in the snow (it was the third year, remember, I'm not that horrible), I read a story to her and her friend Peter while we waited for the other kids to come back to the room.

Our last Snow Day at Teddy Bear School! So sad but so fun!
