The Ice Breakers' Debut

Softball season is in full swing now... heehee, no pun intended! Ryan (aka Ya-Ya) and Charlie (aka The Bug-n-ator) had their first game last week! Steve stood in as the coach for the absent head coach and I was "dugout mom." Whoa, talk about a family affair!

Well, before "dugout mom" there was "hair bow mom!"
Crafty Lori created team flags, hair bows, and hair clips in our team colors!
Yes, athletes for sure but... girls are still girls! Gotta have the frilly stuff!

Ahhhh, proud Grace girls ready for their first game! This is Ryan's 3rd season so she was so relaxed and ready to rock it! Charlie, on the other hand, was super nervous! But as soon as we got out on the field, she was all smiles!
Yes, it rained a little bit! Oh well, these girls are tough!

Ryan opened the season playing first base! A very important position in 6U softball. Since all girls get to hit (from a pitch or off a tee), run the bases, and score each time they are up... the foundation skill they teach is to make the play at first base!

A special treat... since daddy was the coach, the girls got to hit off of daddy as pitcher! So fun! This is Charlie up to bat. She was nervous so Steve said to her, "Charlie, give me the look! Give me the look!" During practice Steve has taught Charlie to get that angry-I'm gonna kill it-tough girl look when she is up to bat! She gave him "the look" and had a great first hit of the season!

Ryan was up next! Day-ang that girl can kill it! This one was a powerful line drive shot right up the middle! Nice work Ya-Ya!
Charlie on third base ready to run home for another score for Team Ice Breakers!
"Let's go Kendall, let's go! Let's go Kendall, let's go!"
"She's not a fa-ker, she's an Ice Breaker!"
Of course, one of the favorite parts of the game is cheering on the batter for a big hit!

The Bug-n-ator let her inner sparkle shine with her team chants!

Good day for the Grace Girls -
The Bug-n-ator got to play catcher!
She was excited about it at first... until she had all the gear on for about 5 minutes!
Haha, suddenly she was over it!

Charlie: "I'm only wearing this stuff for one more batter. That's it!"
Mom (playing the "grown up catcher" next to Charlie): No Charlie, you have to be catcher until all 12 girls have had a chance to hit.
Charlie: "Oh, come on!"
(Oh, if you could only hear her voice instead of just reading it...you'd be laughing out loud just like I am!)

She was a good sport though! Look at that "ready position!"

Coach Steve and Coach Brian lead the end of game cheer and give the girls a pep talk about their great first game! Nice work coaches!

Coach Steve and Coach Brian holdin' down the fort at the snack shack chaos!

Snack Shack bliss... all the girls get to choose what they want and the snack parent puts in the order for the week!

Besties... Charlie, Ryan, and Kendall!
Little Char-Char loves to FINALLY be part of a REAL team! This may have been the happiest day of her life!

Cheers to a good start to a great season
Ya-Ya and Bug-n-ator!

Our Newest Project...

Finally!
After almost 4 years in this house, we are finally tackling the outside of the house!
We are about 24 hours away from a newly painted house!
The 24 hours can not come fast enough... it has been so claustrophobic this week living behind windows that don't open because they are covered with paper and plastic as the painters work away!
We cut down the ugly tree on the side of house (yeh!) and finally ordered new french balcony doors and front window in the living room (double yeh!!)

We are super excited to not live in a "pink" house anymore... Well, pink might be an exaggeration but it certainly always looked PINK to me!
Can't wait to have visitors :-)

Lucky Strike!

Last summer in Big Bear, the whole Kudron family spent an afternoon bowling. We loved it so much that we decided to go at it again. I really do hope this become a regular "friendly" competition. We all had a great time. First we had to "carb up" and prepare for battle so we had some lunch at the Alcatraz Brewery at the Block at Orange. I go to the Block every single month to meet my girlfriend for our monthly breakfast/lunch. To be honest, I have walked past this place every time and never gave it a second thought. It actually was very tasty. I would certainly go there again.

Some pics of lunch...

(I say... Christmas card photo for my parents. So cute.)

(Ahhh... me and my dad. We don't have too many of just the two of us. I love it.)

On our walk over to the bowling alley,
we stopped to watch the skaters at the skate park...
(Ryan decided that she'd like to learn how to ride a skateboard... oh dear, really?)

Watch out Lucky Strike... here come the Kudrons!

(Charlie was battling an ear infection... poor thing did not like the loud noise! Urgent care followed bowling! antibiotics are an azazing thing... 24 hours later and she is feeling great!)

(I hestitated putting this "all backside shot" on the blog but then I decided that someday... I'm gonna wish I still had this 37 year old bum! Geez, I wish I had pictures of my 20 year old bum... I sure do wish I still had that! Uhhh sorry... did I just say all that out loud? oops!)

(I was joking beforehand that I was gonna "kill it" because of my 1-unit bowling class at SDSU. Hmmmm, apparently Mike took the same class because he really kicked all of our you-know-whats.)

(You probably can't see it but this picture is to prove that I beat Steve in the first game. I think he may have hustled me though... we bet the second game (I was feeling all SDSU confident and all)... and he squashed me into a little itty-bitty pellet. If it wasn't for the double-or-nothing bet that I squeaked out at the last minute, I'd STILL be paying off that debt!

(Oh lord Charlie... not again?)

(I love this pic.)

Nancy and Katie kickin' tail for the girls team!
Nice day Kudrons! Can't wait to do it again soon!
