The Best Stocking Stuffer

Our Christmas weekend was not nearly over yet... on December 26th, we woke up at the hotel in Pasadena, packed up ALL those toys again, and headed to the Honda Center to see Disney on Ice. Santa put tickets in the our stockings so this was quite a surprise for the girls.
Those darn beloved Pillow Pets haven't left their hands...
Time to load up and head out.
The girls and Daddy: ready for the show to begin...

Oh, and mommy too...
"Almost 7 year old Ryan" (self proclaimed)... said that she "didn't like princesses so she'd be bored." I told her that we could concentrate on the skating instead.

We did... but very quickly she was into the characters as well. They gave the girls a lot of attention during the show. Sitting in the front row definitely has it's perks...Daddy made that decision (so I guess I have to admit, yet again, that Daddy is right sometimes... sometimes!)

Ryan and me freezing our tails off! Well, I think it was just me that was cold. I used Ryan for a human blanket... she didn't have a choice. LOL

Chuckie with that darn key around her neck still...

The fam...

the munchkins...
and Mommy....

Ahhhh, the dreaded souvenir table!
As if they didn't rake in a ridiculous amount of loot over the past 2 days????
But look at those faces, who could resist?
I could have (mean mommy) but dad's a pushover!

Charlie didn't make it far before passing out! That's a long, long weekend for a 5 year old!
(Don't worry, there's that Pillow Pet again... LOL)

Time to put away Christmas until next year...
Whoa, tiring!

We got "Carey-ed" Away on Christmas Night

After we cleaned up all the morning antics of Christmas, packed up, and said goodbye to Nonna and Grandpa, we headed out to San Marino for the events ahead for Christmas night.

We checked into the hotel with practically every toy the kids got just a few hours earlier!
The poor valet guy and bellman worked hard!
The kids just LOVE hotels. They get so excited whenever we stay over anywhere.
Here is Charlie with her new best friend, Rapunzel. She wanted to carry her herself instead of letting her go up with the bellman. I wish I got a picture of it but she dragged that doll all the way to the room. Cute.
After some little naps by the little people, Jeff, Julie, and Papa came to our hotel room for a little family "pre-party."

Ryan with her uncle and godfather. She simply loves when her aunt and uncle come to town.

Julie picked out some great gifts for the girls. One of the gifts they got for Charlie was a TinkerBell jewelry box that has a key for her to wear around her neck to keep her stuff "safe and secret" in her box. She wore that key for a week!

Can't go wrong with princess Barbies! Charlie was in heaven.
Poor Ryan was a trooper. Her eye was all swollen and we weren't quite sure what it was. We called the pediatrician even to see what to do. I think it really bothered her but she hung in there the best she could all night.
We all shared a little holiday cheer!
Papa and Steve hangin'out before we all carpooled over to the Carey's house for the big event.

The Carey's host an amazing Christmas Night... every year! This was an especially great year for us because Christmas night fell on a Saturday night. If you understand Steve's business, you'd understand that typically Christmas night is a work night for Steve because he goes in to work during the early morning hours of December 26th. so, on the years we've been at the Carey's on Christmas night, we've had to leave on the early side so that Steve can get home to go to work. But... since Christmas was on Saturday, Steve doesn't work Sunday mornings so we got to stay late and stay at the hotel to really enjoy our night. It was awesome.
~~
It was nice because all of the cousins are starting to have babies and there are getting to be kids all around for the girls to play with.
Ryan with Kaila

Charlie with Charlie
There are two little boys that live next door to the Carey's and are close family friends. Charlie was smitten. We may have to be careful in years to come when Charlie and Ryan want to "stay the night at Aunt Ginny's." Hmmmm....

The long day and Ryan's eye meant that the Grace Girls needed a little break.
It definitely helped.

No problem... while they rested Mommy got to mingle and hang out with all the people! Oh, I had so much fun! Everyone is just such a hoot! Great crowd. And crowd is just the right term. Tim and Ginny hosted close to 40 people for a sit down Christmas dinner. I'm still in awe at how they pull it all together.
Here are a few shots of the mingling...

Jeff and Marzie
Me and Bubba (Uncle Jim)
The hostess, Ginny, and two of the little darlings of the night.
Morgan and Charlie
Papa and his two sons!

Aunt Casey, Aunt Marzie and Ry-Ry

Robyn and me
Kelli and Robyn

Julie, the Grace Girls, and Charlie's key
Julie and Katie

All the cousins!
After the amazing meal, the chaos of gift opening began. Ginny got everyone cozy socks like these. Charlie loved hers (of course, they were soft, warm, and PURPLE!)
The girls got so many great outfits and toys and gifts. Thank you everyone for always spoiling our girls. They have been the best dressed since they returned to school after the holiday... no purple socks to school though Charlie! Momma's gotta draw the line somewhere, right?
Poor Ryan and that eye, still hangin' in there snuggling with daddy.

The night is coming to a close and Charlie is letting us know that SHE IS READY! Apparently, we had all better jump when she says so.

Julie tried to make "Grumpy Girl" happy...
To no avail...
Well, Charlie was right. It was a wonderful morning, day, and night but it was certainly time to turn in! Whoa! What an amazing Christmas!
Thank you to all of our friends and family for making our Christmas so special.

Santa Visits Seal Beach

Ahhhh... finally! The computer is fixed and ready to get back to the blog! Sorry for the long delay. Trust me, I have been going crazy without a computer. Seriously, what did we ever do without these things in our lives?
Anyway, on to the long awaited pics from Christmas morning!
What a fun "late night" and "early morning."

Late Christmas Eve (well, late in 5 and 6 year old standards), Nonna and Grandpa were in charge of the bedtime story. Twas the Night Before Christmas is the traditional choice for the night always! After the story, the kids were tucked in and asleep in no time. They were beat.
After the kids were asleep, the work began! This year, Santa's helpers didn't have any kitchens or dollhouses to put together so it was a "cuss free" evening! Phewww.... the secret is to save the hard stuff for the years when Brother Jeff and Aunt Julie are staying with us...LOL! Julie really is the key... because she can put together anything. (I will also have to wait to set my clock in the kitchen until she returns to California sometime soon I hope!)
~~~
As you remember from an earlier post, the girls have determined that each family is assigned their own elf by Santa and they wrote letters to Santa asking about their elf. Well, guess what... Santa wrote back! Turns out, they were right and our personal family elf is named "Sprinkle."
So, the morning couldn't come fast enough for the girls...
We told them that when they woke up in the morning, if there were presents under their tree in their room, they could open them on their own before the grown ups woke up. We told them that they needed to wait until our early morning guests (Papa and Marzie) got here at 6:00 a.m. anyway before we'd let them go downstairs. Well, morning really felt like it came early as we heard there little giggly voices playing with the toys under their little tree in their room. I knew I went to bed late, but boy it didn't seem like I had slept enough... but as you must as a parent... we got up to get going on the morning event. Daddy, half asleep asked Ryan to come tell him what time it was before we rolled out of bed. "It's 2-4-7 Daddy." "What? 2:47! Get your *&%$^& back to bed!"
(So much for a "cuss free" night...LOL!)
To their defense, we DID tell them they could play with their toys when they got up. It's not their fault they can't tell time. We have since taught Ryan how to tell time.
Well, 3 hours later... we started all over. Looks like the girls got new slippers by their bed that they loved.
Very, very antsy.... and waiting for the video camera to start rolling.
Down they come to the tree and are very confused. No new presents.
"Oh, here's one. It doesn't have a tag. It MUST be from Santa!" exclaimed Charlie.
"Good thinking Charlie but those are for Mommy from Daddy that he didn't wrap until 5 minutes ago."
The girls were so confused and sad almost.
(P.S. Look at those Christmas jammies... I couldn't resist! I mean, really, how many more years would I be able to get jammies in this style? I had to go for it!)
"Oh, Santa tricked us Charlie! Look, he left our presents in here. He must have been too tired to carry all this stuff up to the tree. He has a lot of houses to visit!" Ryan confirmed.
Ahhh, the much anticipated... Pillow Pet!
Ryan's most excited to find out the answers to her questions from Santa.
The apple doesn't fall far!
Charlie got a new best friend... life sized Rapunzel.
She looks strangely real, huh Papa?
Lots of gifts for everyone made for a fun morning. The girls got a ton of fun gifts but I have to brag about the best gift I got! My mom created "Blog Books" for me since I started this blog in 2006! A separate book for each year that my mom made by herself. Priceless. My biggest fear has always been that I will have done all this work documenting our girls' lives for them to have as their "baby book" and then someday the blog website will disappear and all our memories would go with it to cyberspace. So, now... I have a hard copy of all these great memories to be stored somewhere safe to pass down to the girls someday!
One of our traditions is that the girls can pick out ANYTHING they want for me and Steve. Whatever they think we need. Charlie thought that her daddy needed Family Guy Santa Underwear! I laughed so hard!
Charlie's new bike was hit!
Ryan, our fashionista liked all her new clothes best.
She went up stairs, laid it all out, and put together the BEST looking outfit from all her new treasures!
THIS is what she came up with.
(Hmmm... we may need to do a little more work in the "fashionista" business...haha... gotta love her!)
We had to go outside and try out the bikes and razors!
There's that outfit again... ahhhh!
I love these girls.
Our Purple Princess got everything in her favorite hue... of course!
I wish I would have gotten pictures of our Christmas morning guests and fabulous breakfast made by my husband! I guess I was so caught up in the gifts and talking (and lack of sleep) that my camera skills got a little off track. But, needless to say, thank you everyone for coming to watch the girls and their loot from Santa. We loved having you here!
